my summer stay-cation (where in the world is m21?)

thanks to everyone for their comments and emails wondering "where in the heck is maison21?"- it's been quite touching that people whom we've never met were concerned about m21's well-being, and in answer to your queries, we've been taking a bit of a summer stay-cation here at the maison21 atelier.

a forced stay-cation, that is- about 4 weeks ago, we noticed some stiffness in to our back and neck, which rapidly proceeded into extreme pain. sadly, the pain is at it's worst when sitting at the computer or driving the m21 mobile, so beginning three weeks ago, we limited our driving to doctor's appointments, and gave up the internets cold turkey, hence the lack of recent posts (and the lack of responses to your well-wishing emails- our sincere apologies for that).

now, thanks to our acupuncturist, eileen, and the chiropractor she recommended, and not much thanks to the DMV-like care offered by m21's healthcare provider, kaiser permanente (first available specialist appointment isn't until mid-september, and an MRI should follow sometime before 2012), we're finally feeling a little better and hope to be back blogging soon (still limiting our internets for the immediate future, however- still too painful to resume frequent computer use).

on a brighter note, at the onset of of the pain, m21 installed the living room over at the bachelorette's place. and from what he remembers through the haze of over-medication, it turned out rather terrific ("put the schofa over zhere, pleesh"). so until we get back up to speed and back to blogging on a regular basis, here's a sneak peek of the room:

no no no!!!!! I want more!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is SO gorgeous! I am overwhelmed!!!! I love the paper and the way you inserted it into the molding. the console and deer - it's so wonderful. Love the zebra on the stools. I really want to see the room!!!!

on another note, I hope you are feeling better! Is it a back sasm? those things are soooo painful. if it is a spasm, laying flat on the floor helps me. I hope you feel better soon and can finish up showing us the room!!!!!

Wow...here's hoping for a speedy recovery. I hurt my back about a month ago and it was not fun. Fortunately it healed on its own, and I've just had to learn that I am getting older and can't lift, move, do some of the things I could do as a spry youngster.

The bachelorette's place looks absolutely lovely!! Are those panels Degournay, Gracie, Paul Montgomery or some other fabulous find of yours?

Get well soon!

Yeahhhhhh!!!!! Your back with a smile....or is it a grimace. So sorry to hear of your chronic pain; not good. Please take care.

The sneak peek of your living room project is gorgeous.....!! Beautiful work and wets the appetite for more visuals. Ginny

I was so worried. Thanks for sending a messenger - and do not over do. I mean it. Also, madly in love with the project. While I am dying to see more, I will make myself happy with the image here. Take care.

You are missed for sure. Hope you get better sooner than later. The sneak peak is gorge. You could make beauty from your death bed, your beautifully appointed death bed.
Seriously, stay off the computer - it's the worst hunchback pain one can self inflict.

I hope you are back in the pink soon M21. I must tell you (Please do not hate me), I was a tiny bit relieved that the "Ouch” sign was not in reference to Mona. The bachelorette pad? Stunning!

Hang in there m21! Ice also helps... if only in the martinis.

Great looking room shot. Feel better.

I am so there with ya. I have had back problems for over 25yrs and it's no picnic. Love the pic though. Lucky girl. So, here's to feeling a little better (stiff drink, who cares if it's 8 in the morning!) I hope you can get back to normal asap.

I am so sorry you aren't feeling good! If this interior photo is an example of your talents on a bad day, I can hardly wait to see what you do on a great day!!!! Wonderful! I have had back pain that lays me low for days, and it is no fun! (Thank goodness not for a long time!) I hope Mona is taking good care of you. Best wishes!

Oh you poor thing! Nothing worse than having pain -
especially in the back. Hope that you are doing swell and take it easy. Health comes first and foremost, even before blogging....!

Maison - missing you heaps but can totally relate.

you could always wear an elasticated back brace when you're typing on the computer, get a back support for your chair - check the ergonomics of your chair and computer screen and get up every 10mins and walk around

Or even easier - teach mona and richard to type :-)

Hugs and love to you

and I can see our back pain hasnt affected your creativity - that room is looing absolutely fabulous - Dolce and Gabbana would LOVE IT!

I do.

Dear Maison - just saw your icon next to your name when you type a message in the comments box.

Now ,mauve is not a colour I would associate with you - leopard print yes - black zebra print, red or gold or a picture of richard or mona - yes too

Im not quite sure that mauve suits your zany personality!:-)

Hugs and love

Felicity :-)
