here's some paintings i've been working on in the last bits of 2014. even though i've been crazy busy, the urge to create was strong enough that i somehow i fit it in. in a way, i think the creative outlet saved me from going crazy with design problems and deadlines! ;-) i am really looking forward to see what creative directions 2015 holds!

california home + design "designer crush" interview!

i posted a while back about how thrilled i was to have one of my favorite magazines "california home + design" return to publication this fall (and to feature my "pennants" rug in the relaunch!), and today, the love affair continues as they were nice enough to feature an interview with me for their "designer crush" series on the online website! i am tickled pink.

please, head on over to the site to check out the interview and a slideshow of my work! and a huge thanks to ca home + design, and to editor-at-large jennifer mehditash for her kind words and hard work- i assure you, the crush is mutual!

sneak peek from a maison21 los angeles interior design project

here's a little sneak peek of a media room i just completed here in the beverlywood section of los angeles (one of three rooms i designed for the homeowners).  i'm pretty darn pleased with how the room turned out, especially the moody color palette, livened by graphic pops of white. a perfect place to relax in netflix bliss. the gorgeous lynx photo is by wink gaines, a talented wildlife photographer i met in high point, and the super sexy modern sconces flanking mr. kitty were provided by lamps plus

maison21 interior design project peek

the coolest thing about having a couple comprised of a talented photographer, matt armendariz and equally talented stylist, adam pearson, as clients, is that you know you are going to get some great photos out of the project!  so when this photo popped up in my instagram feed, courtesy of matt, i got super excited. stay tuned for the rest of the house, hopefully via a print or online magazine as we are definitely going to shop this project for publication!

thanks pinterest! (a little unexpected love for a maison21 interior design project)

just wanted to say a little thanks to pinterest for featuring my project from 2009 in a recent email. this project is a favorite of mine due to a great syngeristic match up of like minds between my fabulous fashion forward client (now friend), cristina angarola and myself as designer, so i'm so glad it's getting a little love five years later. well, a LOT of love really- 3900 pins and counting!

you can read more about the project and see more pictures on the blog here and here.

maison21 at #ICFF (dreams do come true)

a little late since #ICFF is over halfway through at this point, but my fields rug for 27ground is on exhibit though 5/20 at the woven accents booth, #2166.

i also want to acknowledge that sometimes dreams do come true: when i was in design school in the way back when, i vowed that one day a product i designed would be shown at ICFF; today, cross one off the bucket list!  next step is a my own booth at ICFF just for my licenses: wallpaper, rugs, fabrics, lighting, casegoods, upholstery, accessories and tabletop!  and this time it's not going to take 20 years either!  ;-)

thanks to erik perez of HLgroup for the instaphoto!

bold n brassy at 55 downing street

i've been a brass maniac for years, as evidenced by this picture of my living room, circa 2006-7 (?), when i called my home the "brass menagerie" (it was also my mission at teh time to personally bring back the brass animal statue. i succeeded, btw ;-). the trend sort of took a while to take off after us early adopters embraced it,  but that has all changed. my recent trip to #hpmkt cemented that bold n brassy is here to stay! virtually every showroom had shiny brass and gold pieces on view (two standouts were bernhardt and celerie kemble for henredon).

inspired my my #designonhpmkt trend spotting, my latest post at 55 downing street is all about brass, brass, and more brass. please go here to see my bold and brassy picks!

second look (the maison21 interior design portfolio, reimagined)

like seemingly everyone in the design world, i became obsessed with the waterlogue app a couple of weeks ago, and quickly began compulsively watercoloring pictures of ted, richard and flowers, instagramming them to the world. what i am really amazed by is waterlogue's ability to reimagine my interior design portfolio and make it look fresh and pretty, even when after staring at some of these photos for years it began to look anything but in my eyes. thanks waterlogue for helping me taking a second look at my work, and pardon my (lack of) humility, but, dang, it looks good the second time around...  ;-)

ps- if you like what you see, the real photos are here, and you can email me here for more info.
