maison21 in interior design magazine's fall market tabloid.

when i went back to design school as an adult, i initially went back to school to study product design but the first two years of the undergrad program was very similar to interior design, and there was much crossover. i eventually discovered that the study of product design could get a waaaaay too engineer-y, and was also rather limiting, so if i wanted to make pretty things and environments, interiors, not products, might be the best way to go.  obvs, i choose interior design, but the love of product design has always stayed with me so it's a major thing for me to have licensed product lines with 27ground for woven accents and black crow studios.

during one of my classes we were asked to name three career goals:  first, i wrote, was showing product at the international contemporary furniture fair in NYC (check), second, was having my products featured in one of interior design magazine's market issues, and third was to have something i designed selected to be in the permanent collection of MOMA.

well, with the publication of the fall market tabloid last month, number two is off my bucket list as well- thank you interior design magazine for helping to make my dreams come true.

so this means MOMA, i'm coming for you next!  wanna buy a rug?

california home + design "designer crush" interview!

i posted a while back about how thrilled i was to have one of my favorite magazines "california home + design" return to publication this fall (and to feature my "pennants" rug in the relaunch!), and today, the love affair continues as they were nice enough to feature an interview with me for their "designer crush" series on the online website! i am tickled pink.

welcome back, california home + design magazine! (and thank you!)

i couldn't be more excited by the return of california home + design magazine! and to have one of my shapes collection rugs (for 27 ground available exclusively thru woven accents) featured in the debut issue, well that's just icing on the cake.

a print magazine launching in today's environment is a rare and fragile thing, so i urge you, to run to the newsstands and BUY THIS MAGAZINE!  support print! it is truly the magazine that "gets" my POV and that POV of my peers. if you live outside of CA, find your city's newsstand with teh most international magazines and CHD will be there. oh, and look for the gorgeous cover of my buddy molly luetkemeyer's coldwater canyon project (shot by jon coolidge). simply amazing. molly has always been super supportive of my career, so i couldn't be more pleased to see her prodigious talent get some print coverstory love. i've always said, if i wasn't an interior designer myself, i'd hire molly to do my house... but i am, so hire me- she's waaaaaay too busy for you. tee hee. ;-)

tami and krista were my "neighbors" this year at #LCDQLA legends, designing the window at sydney harbour paints, just down the block from my window at woven accents. of course they kicked ass, but most importantly, it was fun to have friends working just down the street! i loved being able to visit with them, and hope they come back to LA soon!

just received some new photography so we can add my shapes pieced cowhide rug collection for 27 ground to the woven accents website, and my problem is, which should we show first? it's like trying to pick a favorite child- i love each of them in different ways, so i can't choose! hexes is winning on pinterest with number of repins, but algorithm seems to be a crowd favorite on instagram; pennants is popular with my facebook friends but fields is my first born, so i have special feelings for him. ;-)

what do you think? which is your favorite?

maison21 at #ICFF (dreams do come true)

a little late since #ICFF is over halfway through at this point, but my fields rug for 27ground is on exhibit though 5/20 at the woven accents booth, #2166.

i also want to acknowledge that sometimes dreams do come true: when i was in design school in the way back when, i vowed that one day a product i designed would be shown at ICFF; today, cross one off the bucket list!  next step is a my own booth at ICFF just for my licenses: wallpaper, rugs, fabrics, lighting, casegoods, upholstery, accessories and tabletop!  and this time it's not going to take 20 years either!  ;-)

i've been talking about it for long enough, so now i'd like to officially introduce you to my "shapes" collection of pieced cowhide rugs, designed by maison21 for 27ground, available exclusively through woven accents. while the line is a collaboration between the three names i just mentioned, it is also a collaboration between me and you, as each of the four patterns is infinitely customizable for the needs of every project- any size, any shape, any color. need "pennants" as 9' x 12' rug, not a 12 foot runner as shown? not a problem.  need "hexes" in orange, red and yellow? not a problem. whatever you need, not a problem!

the shapes collection is so new, it's not even on the woven accents website yet, but you can view it in person at their showroom right across from the main entrance of the PDC at 8674 melrose avenue, west hollywood, 90069- it's in the window thru june. you can also check out the "fields" rug at ICFF in NYC, may 17-20th, booth number 2166.

i'm terribly proud of the line, and will be talking more about it soon, but first, i wanted to get the pictures out so you can start sharing and specifying!
