#throwbacksaturday to @tracyhiner @blackcrowstudios and I showing off our #Memphis #wallpaper in a sample of our chic #ecru colorway, a couple years back at @westedgedesign. This year, @westedgedesign will be held from 3rd Nov to the 6th Nov 2016 at the #TheBarkerHangar in #SantaMonica. Sadly, I doubt I can attend, as more stupid complications from my spinal cord injury are plaguing me right now, so until we get them under control, I'm keeping things on the down low. Again. 🤕. Next time I emerge from my hidey hole will probably be for @kbis_2017 in #orlando with #designhounds from Jan 10-12. My last few projects have been #kitchens and #baths, so I ought to edjubicate myself on the latest and greatest the industry has to offer, since im not quite ready to hang up my swatches and retire. A year ago today, I moved back into my upstairs bedroom bedroom post-operation. It's the little sign posts like this that give me hope moving forward. Today, I probably schlepped up and the stairs about half a dozen times as my cat fur limits have been reached, 🙏 and we are hoping to have the bed put back back together by bedtime. That doesn't always happen, but I'm still grateful for the miracle that I can change my own sheets in my own home and not live in some dumpy nursing facility for the rest of me life. Cuz, when when you paralyzed, that's where your mind goes. At least that's where mine went. And yes, richard is SUPER-HELPFUL In making the bed as you can tell by the photo. His job is to take up as much room as possible, chase the sheet corners, and then meow like a big baby if I attempt to move him. 😽#cat #catsofinstagram #catstagram #mainecoon #rescue #adopt #nevershop #maison21

Four years ago today I debuted my "small space big style" showhouse bathroom for @cahomeanddesign magazine. Possibly one of the funnest projects I've ever worked on and I'm still tremendously proud of it. I had just 24 sq ft to make an impression, so I went for it in the biggest, boldest possible way creating my Memphis wallpaper with @tracyhiner of @blackcrowstudios. I'm the first to admit I didn't reinvent the wheel with the wallpaper pattern, as I was influenced by everything from "dazzle camo" to Bridget Riley to Sol le Witt to my beloved Memphis movement, but it sure has been interesting to see the pattern played out by other other designers over the years as my bath seeped into their collective sub-consciouses- I've seen it recreated in murals, similar wallpapers, and even a strikingly identical bathroom in Germany featured on the cover of @interiordesignmag last year. You can even buy it in smaller scale under a more well-known designer's name by the yard at a certain craft shop. Whether the pattern was just floating in the general zeitgeist, or unwittingly "homaged", or outright copied, it's still flattering to be part of a trend bigger than myself! (though I do wish people would just buy my damn wallpaper rather than DIY it themselves😉). I want to think @erinfeher for inviting me to participate in the showhouse and for being the loveliest cheerleader, editor and friend during the process, as well as @vanessakproductions for being brave enough to manage all the big problems and bigger personalities in the "small space big style" showhouse (just kidding on the personalities - the crew was absolutely delightful). a special shout out to my crazy talented friend @mollyloot who was too busy with actual paying projects to take on the bathroom adjacent to her showhouse room and graciously submitted my name to be her neighbor. 💛 Thanks also to the sponsors who made my vision come alive- I couldn't ask for better vendors to work with! @specceramicsinc @walkon_tile @wbdesignstudio @snyderdiamond @lampsplus and @accessorypreview 👏👏👏 #interiordesign #interior #interiors #bath #interior designer #maison21 #losangeles #hollywood #hollywoodhills #bathroom

So I guess it was about a year ago that I made my small screen debut on #househuntersrenovation. Specified some lighting for a project today, which made me think of these fabulous @thegoodflock walnut sconces I was lucky enough to use in my #hgtv #househuntersrenovation #kitchen last year. Love my client's eat-in breakfast area- a bright and sunny spot to begin each day with a cup of coffee and a smile. There's even a extra stool or two tucked away if guests are in town. #tbt to the #powderroom I created for @brizofaucet to highlight their new #rook collection range of #faucets and #bathaccessories. So delighted with the end result! I wish I could install it in my own home. Dark and sexy with 8 inch black hex tiles in the floor and @jamiebeckwithcollection #wedge projection tiles on the wall, with enough with scattered through to not feel like a dungeon, including my hard wearing #algorithm #pieced #cowhide #shapescollection #rug from @wovenaccents and one of my signature #cubist collection acrylic #paintings on the wall. Hard to see in the photo, but the ceiling is a silver leaf tea paper #wallpaper to reflect the multi armed black nickel #Sputnik #chandelier from @arteriorshome. One of my favorite decisions was to to use @restorationhardware_ tented candlestick lamps instead of the expected sconces to flank the oversize #deco mirror. Like I said- wish this was in my home, as it's a perfect blend of dramatic and masculine yet intimate at the same time. #bath#bathroom #interior #interiordesign #maison21 #m21 #losangeles thanks to #brizo for including me in such a fun project!
