the wish list: fred brouard abstract bronze dining table

m21 had never even heard of french artist, fred brouard, before this incredible abstract gilded bronze dining table base from craig van den brulle popped up on his facebook page yesterday, but now he feels like he might die if he can't own at least ONE of brouard's 1970's limited edition of 8 table bases. two would be better.

incroyable!

the wish list: t. h. robsjohn-gibbings chaise

t. h. robsjohn-gibbings chaise for saridis, at LA's warehouse-sized version of the wish list, JF Chen (via 1stdibs)
two of these, a sleek coffee table in-between and some gorgeous modern art, are m21's fantasy recipe for the perfect minimalist living room.

the wish list: maurice bailey for monteverdi young armchairs

all we can say about these chairs is yum. witty, idiosyncratic, modern, exuberant, maurice bailey's work for monteverdi young, represents a fanciful side to mid-century modern that maison21 has always had quite the soft spot for.  not as famous or prolific as tommi parzinger or edward wormley, two designers m21 thinks are comparable in feel, mr. bailey's creations represent that sweet spot where art & craft met commerce & function at the middle of the 20th century.

the wish list: john dickinson table

plastered chic: a john dickinson african stool-inspired table, offered by epoca, san franciso on 1stdibs.
we have jones'd for a john dickinson three-legged stool ever since we first saw one in an old architectural digest back-issue from the 70's. of course, one could buy a nice used car for the price of this little beauty, but never mind- this is the wish list, not the reality-based affordable acquisition list. in real life, until we find a client who shares our vision of plaster loveliness,  we'll just have to settle for a beat-up old stool that we can spray paint white...

the wish list: paul evans cityscape credenza

any piece from paul evans' super chic 1970's cityscape series is another item m21 is hoping his inner junque whisperer® will one day find at an out of the way estate sale or dusty antique shop, but until the junque whisperer delivers,  this amazing credenza from the fantastic craig van den brulle gallery in nyc, would fit the bill quite nicely.  simply stunning!

btw, if every person who reads this blog between now and xmas (71 shopping days) were to send craig van den brulle $1, this baby could be sitting in our dining room by new years! (omg- you guys shouldn't have! how ever did you know what i wanted?).

ps- just kidding on the gift collection thing  (not really).  i couldn't possibly accept such a gift  (i totally could, so get to work!)

the wish list: tommi parzinger tea set

there is an ever growing list of pretty things m21 covets, things he is hoping his inner junque whisperer® will find one day at an out of the way estate sale or dusty antique shop.  so today, in the tradition of empress oprah's "the secret", we are going to start posting pictures of those objects we lust after, in the hopes of having them walk into our life. (we were going to call this feature "gee, i have no idea what to get m21 for xmas", but oprah advised us that it sounded a bit materialistic, and the secret might not work if we get too greedy.  to which we replied, "sure, empress oprah, whatever you say" thinking to myself with a heavy eye roll "greedy seemed to have worked out alright for you, miss thing! i bet santa brings you whatever YOU want for xmas!).
tommi parzinger tea set
having this tommi parzinger tea set on display at the atelier would make us very, very happy.  those little tulip finials on top make us feel all squishy inside- seriously.  you'll probably see lots of tommi parzinger stuff on the wish list, as he is one of our true design heroes, and we've coveted this set since we were a little boy (ok- we had no idea who he was when we were a little boy, but if we had, we would have asked santa for it, to be sure).  to see more tommi fabulousness without waiting for m21 to post more wishes, check out the palumbo gallery in NYC on 1stdibs- their selection is unsurpassed.
