thank you one and all, for your kind comments!

meg- as this is the only room finished, it's all i've got for now. the other rooms are very close to done, and installations are scheduled, but until i find a few key pieces, no photos (so our friend at the smithsonian will have to wait to give his pithy commentary ;-)

ginny- thank you! all my rooms tend to be pretty bold- i'm not one for subtle shades of beige- but this entry, as it's really a room that people pass through, and not hang out in, was an opportunity to go for the dramatic in a big way.

after being a pratt and lambert man for years, this is the first project i've used benjamin moore on (it really has become somewhat of an industry standard for color matching), and i'm quite pleased. the red isn't quite as orange as the photo, and i think it turned out beautifully- no small feat as red is such a notoriously difficult color to to both select and paint with (LOTS of swatches went up on the wall first).

thanks, lana- "dazzling" is an apt word. my client's teen-aged son wasn't sure about the room, because it was so "gold and shiny" but his mom and love it!

billy d- type in "glass float" on ebay, and hundreds will pop up- but please wait a bit... the glass floats shown are my own, scooped out of the pacific by my navy captain father. i still have to buy some for my client!

debbie- i couldn't ask for a nicer compliment!

anon- i'm a lucky boy!

OMG! I may have to move back to SoCal so you can do a house for me! I can work for other but have a heck of a time with my own house. This is brilliant! I am soooooo looking forward to the rest.

poppy- understated is never a word i would use to describe that color, but i get what you mean, so thank you! i want the room to say "welcome- this house is gonna knock yur socks off!"

lauren- those lamps were a *very* lucky find (and i originally bought them for the living room, but i had a "what was i thinking/" moment, and realized they were perfect for the entry).

katie- thank you! you may have had a heck of a time with your house, but the results are absolutely beautiful, so it was well worth the effort! anytime you want to colloborate on a project, though- i'm available!
