watch out, richard...

richard is hiding under the bed, lest we attempt to dye the white bits of his fur yellow, in an attempt to match one of our favorite decor color schemes, gray and yellow.

in actuality, the color of cats in this photo was achieved via brushing colored pigment and talc in their fur, and the cats seemed to enjoy it, claimed photographer, tim walker, in an article in the guardian uk (we sincerely hope they washed the pigment off the kitties before they groomed themselves).

the photo cracked us up, and we are just gay enough to to enjoy the thought of kandi kolor kitties to enhance any decor. but don't worry richard, we won't really attempt to try it out on you- we love you just the way you are.

we found the pastel kitty image via paul pincus, a new to us blog, with lots more lovely photos, and an overall aesthetic we quite enjoyed during our brief visit. we hope to have more time for an in-depth visit this weekend, and maison21 hopes those of you that haven't discovered his blog yet will check it out too.

happy weekend!

Connor's pale yellow! I could dye him another colour!

Ooooo I've seen these kitties before! Do you really think the colored talc didn't harm them? ha ha
I have a friend who has a white toy poodle, and she has dyed her pink for many a key costume events. She also paints the poodle's nails, and some dog activist groomers go balistic saying nail polish is bad for dogs. Ooo bad dog!
Thanks for making me smile.

ivy- they are SO like the horse of a different color- i din' tink of that when i saw the photo!

meg- maybe connor should be orane for halloween? i bet you are missing him!

vamp- i don't think a lil doogy pedicure should be a violatio of animal rights! everybody deserves a little pamapering...

paul- THANK YOU! love your blog.

thanks, joni- i debated about using a picture of my with my "hairy legs" as it seemed slightly less than professional, but the reality is, that's me- i'm just as likely to show up for a client meeting in shorts and flip-flops as more "professional" attire. i live in los angeles, after all!

suzy- just brushing my beast is difficult enough could never imagine attempting something like that!

Love this. I know someone who dyed their cat with kool-aid (and it was more of a drug thing than a gay thing). The effect was not quite as lovely as this.

Oh my goodness that is such a hilarious photo! It's like Easter except it's the cats that are colored in pastel! I had a post of dyed chicklets. This is a fun post!

I stumbled upon your blog today and am equally inspired and amused. I can't wait to go through the archives.

Also, I am lucky enough to have a kitty who is the perfect shade of gray, and I need only to design rooms around him. Not the other way around.
