sending out good thoughts...

to everyone affected by the wildfire in the san gabriel mountains, m21 is sending out positive thoughts, and hoping for the best. the smoke is horrible in my 'hood, and i'm nowhere near the fire, so i can't imagine what it's like for those of you who live closer.

and for those of you who have been evacuated, a little hope: for 3 days last fall we wondered nervously if my brother's home survived the san diego firestorm; news reports spoke of decimation on his block (fully a third of the homes on his long street were burnt to the ground), but fire is a random and capricious thing- for some reason (partly owing to a tile roof) my brothers house was spared. the below picture is of the mailboxes directly in front of his house, left to serve as a reminder of the power of nature, as well as the power of luck:

wishing all of you my brother's luck! be safe!

wow! best wishes to your brother! I like your blog, and yes, I discovered it from Habitually Chic. I'll bet you are going to have a great time blog-sitting! ;-)

joni, i wish some of big bro's luck would rub off on me! course, like i said- it was partially because he replaced his shingle roof with tile, so he's practical like that. me? i'd probably still be obsessing over roof tile samples, all the while not making a decision because i REALLY want a slate roof, but can't afford it- so i would have had wood shakes still, and POOF! up in smoke...

tula- i'm sending out positive waves in your moms direction- it's a scary, scary thing... update your FB page with her status when you get a chance.

red- thanks for visiting- it was actually very sweet of heather to give me a lil publicity for just monitoring her comment section while she's gone (along with the first commenter to this post, joni, heather is in the blog big leagues- i'm just a minor farm league player). heather also lined up some posts for her absence, so i'm just sittiin' back and watchin' the hits come in! (and biting the hand that feeds me i guess, but she mentioned the header thing first! ;)

again, thanks for visiting!
