hello, yellow! (a happily ever after decorating love story)

to some people, yellow is the color of caution; it makes them nervous and brings up images of wasps and police tape. for maison21, it's the complete opposite- for us, it conjures mental images of sunshine and daffodils, lemonade and butterfly wings.  it's a natural antidepressant, and never fails to make us smile. hope you are smiling too after this lil "decorating with yellow" roundup.

one of the most storied rooms in decorating history, nancy lancaster's yellow drawing room (via elle decor)
you don't need to paint an entire room yellow to bring the sunshine in, a pair of these mottega lamps would do the trick quite nicely!

i've always had a hankerin' for a pair of classic arne jacbosen egg chairs in bright yellow... i may need to make a move on this soon. (tishu via 1stdibs)

This post is beautiful. I can't imagine how long it would take to decorate the first image. I love you work, and this validates it.
Happy Memorial Day.

wonderful post.
about ten years ago i painted my kitchen a deep marigold.
the other colors are black & white-
with red and yellow toile.

it has remained a favorite room in my home.
in fact...if i had to do the main areas over i would use yellow on the walls with taupe, cream and touches of black.

this color combo is rich and warm.
- elegant too!
