m21's heart is beating like a little bird...

at the sight of this lalanne canopy bed- m21 MUST HAVE it. he will recline upon it, as golden faced monkeys feed him chilled grapes and pour him sweet wine...

seriously, while not for everyone, if m21 ever gets a client who will allow him to indulge his love of this sort of one-of-a-kind, slightly grotesque, yet completely fabulous shizz, he will die a happy, happy decorator...

Canopy bed sculpture by François Lalanne, in the living room of Jacques Grange, from "French Style"by Suzanne Slesin & Stafford Cliff, Jacques Dirand photography, 1982

stolen from design-crisis who took it from fullbloom who grabbed it at trouvais (got that? because there will be a quiz).

Ooh, fabulous! (I almost missed the feet.) The Lalannes could do no wrong, in my book.

M21, I just read your comment on V&L - funny! Yes, I am slowly in the process of 'coming out' of the blog closet. Let's hope that the dinner with Brooke, Steve, and Suzanne Kasler doesn't get canceled because of the possible snow! What a way to come out - surrounded by some of my design idols.

Now, about that bed....looks like something that would be in Eyes Wide Shut.

Is that bed the coolest!
You will find an eclectic client who will adore it! For someone's coastal getaway? Is it a fortune?!

You do have an eye for the unique. Tell me though, what's with the flat puppy rug?

Wow...this little fella sure has gotten around in blog land. Not a bad conversation starter if you have the room. Wonder whether he's still in Paris, and if someone's painted those walls? Trish

Oh Lord! If you could make that work, you would be the best decorator in the world!

You know that MJ would have wanted this...and '...the flat puppy rug' is of course where the King of Pop would have slept. "Yoo-hoo! Do I have one of these?"

leslie, me too!

lana- lalannes are fab! as for can do no wrong, well they have a series of dinosaur sculptures here in santa monica that are pretty close to wrong, if not altogether wrong. still, most everything else is simply schtunning!

dagny, exactament- fabulous & yet ever so slightly kitsch!

tammy- that is a disturbing image! ;-)

holly (hey, if brook can use it in public, so can i) ;-) i am looking forward to your public debut, and am honored for the preview!

yes, karena- it's a fortune! another reason why client who would let me use it would make me happy- they'd be rich too! and yes, i think a coastal local would be fab.

tracy- i considered photoshopping puppy rug out, but wanted to remain faithful to mr. grange's vision. bird bed i love, but run over rover, i do not understand...

coleen, it's ALL about the feet!

suzy- a match made in heaven, no? grange + lalanne = la LOVE!

trouvais, thank you so much for the original post- made my day to see it!

sketch, we already know i'm the best, don't we? *wink*

margaret- i would love to think that michael jackson and i don't like the same thing, but i'm afraid you might be right on the bed. as for the rug, i doubt even mj would want it!

custard- you would not be the first to use the word 'delusional' in connection to my name! ;-) but yes, that's why i love birdie- weird, terrible and oh so deliciously good...
