DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!

no, that's not the name of m21's favorite 1977 punk rock album (that would be "damned, damned, damned"), rather it was our reaction to reading at E! online (hi diane!) that the michael jackson auction has been canceled. how will maison21 ever build his collection of life-sized bronze "children playing" statues now, he wonders?

we are crushed, we tell you crushed! we don't even know if we can drag ourselves to the exhibition that opened yesterday, now that we know the splendors we glimpse there, can never be our own (total lie- we are so going).

here's the one item we actually hoped to buy at the auction- a 5 foot tall gilt rooster on a perch (est. $100-200, cheap enough to indulge). kinda fabulous we thought, and frankly we just don't need another antique butter churn or victorian music stand (outside of the king of pop, who would need such things? so random).
remember, exhibition closes monday- don't miss out on the wonders! (unless, of course, it would be too painful to attend- we completely understand).

I have to admit...the rooster is extremely cool.

I thought of you last night, and how disappointed you would be, when I saw the news that the auction had been cancelled. Now it's just a creepy 'Michael Jackson Museum'. Are you really going to go have a look?

If I could knit I would make one glove in silver and send it to you!

* I am glad you cannot purchase that rather angry looking rooster - I think it would scare the fur pants off poor Mona!!!!

Did they give a reason for cancelling...bit strange....one would have thought Mr Jackson would be in need of the cash ;)

THat was funny...life-sized bronze children playing.

And yes it would be interesting to be in that auction...love his music and that point in time of my life when Michael was the King of POP.

I would have loved that rooster. It's not black, but still...

moggit girls- so many creepy statues, it's unreal!

jil- rooster was cool- better in pic, perhaps.

tracy, you have NO idea how creepy the MJ museum was. a monument to bad taste and ego run a muck. and all the creepy kids stuff...

gorgeous- LOL!

lady jicky, mona is so oblivious, she'd never even notice the statue- once it's inside the house if she can't eat it or it doesn't pet her, it's useless. richard on the other hand, would have enjoyed a new sparring partner, i'm sure.

suzy- i'm not sure of hte legal aspect, but it seems to me at one point he had to have been in favor of the auction to raise some dough. don't know what hanged- i need to do some googlin'!

ann- i can still listen to all of "off the wall" and most of "thriller" with complete amazement. sad it's been one long slide into where he is now.

black rooster- since i have a fondness for black lacquer paint, had it ended up in my possession, one never knows...
